Your Little Secret uses the Fitzpatrick scale while undergoing skin analysis’s. The Fitzpatrick scale is a numerical classification schema for human skin colour. It was developed in 1975 by Thomas B. Fitzpatrick as a way to estimate the response of different types of skin responds to the sun. Since then it’s extended to a wider range of skin types and remains a recognized source for dermatological research for human skin pigmentation.
Type I : always burns, never tans (palest; freckles)
Type II : usually burns, tans minimally
Type III : sometimes mild burn, tans uniformly
Type IV : burns minimally, always tans well (moderate brown)
Type V : very rarely burns, tans very easily (dark brown)
Type VI : very rarely burns, (deeply pigmented dark brown to darkest brown)
Normal Skin:
• Balanced (neither dry or oily)
• Blemish-free
• Non-senstive
• Smooth surface
Combination Skin:
• Dry in some areas, oily in others
• Breaks out easily
• Irritated easily
• Occasional enlarged pores
Oily Skin:
• Shiny, greasy appearance
• May have enlarged pores
• Prone to redness, pimples & blackheads
• No dry patches
Dry Skin:
• Flaky, dry skin surface
• Fine lines may develop easily
• Pores barely visible
• Skin easily irritated
• Prone to redness
Dehydrated Skin:
• Not actually a type, but common skin condition
• Easily mistaken for dry skin
• Fine lines may develop easily
• Pores slightly visible
• May develop redness
Sensitive Skin:
• Not actually a type, but a common skin condition
• May sting, burn, or itch
• Reactive & easily irritated
• Blush or flush easily
